After her father, Thomas Markle, was admitted to the hospital for a leg amputation, Meghan Markle was finally able to send him a letter.
After Thomas told the Daily Mail that he hadn’t heard from the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan’s representative verified to Page Six on Wednesday, December 10, that she had contacted Thomas.
“Given that a Daily Mail reporter has remained at her father’s bedside throughout, broadcasting each interaction and breaching clear ethical boundaries, it has been exceedingly difficult for the Duchess to contact her father privately, despite her efforts over the past several days,” Meghan’s spokesperson said in a fiery statement.
The rep added, “With the support of reliable and trusted contacts, her correspondence is now safely in his hands.”
The statement followed rumors that Meghan, 44, was unable to get in touch with her father, 81, following his medical treatment last week at a hospital in the Philippines.
“There’s been progress, but she hasn’t made contact [yet],” an insider told The Times UK, adding, “It’s hoped and expected that there will be some form of communication in the next 24 hours.”
Last week, Page Six verified that Meghan had been attempting to get in touch with her father, a retired lighting director, by phoning nearby hospitals.
Samantha Markle, Meghan’s estranged sister, asserted in multiple posts on X that the former actress had not communicated with their father.
Their father told the Daily Mail that he has never changed his phone number and that Meghan could easily reach him, expressing astonishment over the stories of her attempt to get in touch.
Additionally, he expressed his wish to make amends with Meghan, stating that he does not wish to “di£ estranged.”
