After claiming that males in Abuja might also be gold diggers, a young woman has sparked debate on social media, refuting the widely held belief that only women look for financial gain in relationships.
The woman described her own experiences since moving to the country’s capital in a video posted on X (Twitter).
She acknowledged that until she personally experienced it, she had disregarded reports about Abuja males financially abusing women.
“It is happening. Before I came to Abuja, I didn’t believe it. When they told me Abuja men are this and that, I didn’t believe it. I’m not the type to judge till it came to me,”
She claimed that rather than a sincere relationship, a number of the guys she encountered showed a subtle but persistent curiosity in her financial ability.
She claimed that they regularly questioned her about things like where she lived, if she lived alone, and how much money she made. These discussions eventually resulted in requests for money.
She pointed out that although society frequently condemns women for squandering men’s money, her own experiences demonstrate that some men also act in this way, pursuing relationships purely for financial gain.
Her story has sparked a discussion on the internet, with some people having similar experiences and others defending Abuja men against stereotypes.
