Praise Onyeagwalam, better known by her stage name Director Pink, is a Nigerian music video director who has disclosed the reasons behind her decision to abandon her acting career.
The celebrated cinematographer revealed that she left that line of work because of the sexual exploitation and humiliation of aspiring performers.
Director Pink claimed in a recent interview with Hip TV that she changed careers to become her own boss because she was embarrassed by the long lines at film auditions and the suspicious calls she received from male filmmakers asking her to go to compromising settings.
“The humiliation was too much for me to handle, but I wanted to be an actress.” lengthy lines and dubious “come to this location” requests. “No,” I replied. I decided to become my own boss at that point,” she stated.
Director Pink went on to say that although directing music videos might be difficult at times, she is prepared to suffer for her work.
Stressing that it took those in the prime years to reach their current position, she advised aspiring music video makers to embrace delayed gratification and exercise patience.
