“Shock Confession: Davido Says He Nearly Quit Music Before Omah Lay Collab”

Shortly before the release of his number-one song “With You,” which featured Omah Lay, Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, revealed that he was about to leave the music industry.

The multiple award-winning musician admitted in a now-viral interview that he never thought the song would be the album’s biggest success.

He claims that when he was considering retiring from the music business after more than ten years, the song’s enormous success rekindled his love for the art form.

When Davido reflected on his career, he pointed out how uncommon it is for an artist to experience such a breakthrough thus early in their career.

He emphasized that the collision came right as he was about to slow down, calling the timing of it “divine.”

“Some artists get that kind of song at the start of their careers, others in the middle. For me, 13–14 years in, I was even thinking of bowing out. Then God blessed me with this song. It added more life to my journey,” he said.
