Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin Records and a seasoned music producer, has talked candidly about the human costs of becoming the biggest star in Nigerian entertainment.
The 42-year-old said on the Echo Podcast that although he has no regrets about his professional path, he may have unintentionally destroyed his marriage.
Don Jazzy acknowledged that he never thought he would live into his 40s single when asked what he had to give up to achieve success.
“I never thought I’d be in my 40s and not married. Maybe that’s the one I lost along the way. If it comes, it comes. If it doesn’t, I’m totally fine,” he said.
Even if he weren’t a record label boss, the hitmaker, who has significantly influenced the careers of artists like Tiwa Savage, Rema, and Ayra Starr, noted that music would still be the focus of his job.
Don Jazzy emphasized that, in spite of the compromises, he is extremely happy with his accomplishments in the music industry.
