Music entrepreneur Ubi Franklin has expressed his thoughts on the Nigerian superstars Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid—often referred to as the “Big 3” of Afrobeats.
Franklin clarified that it would be challenging for the three to work together in a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, emphasizing that because they are the “Big 3,” they are competitors rather than partners.
The talent manager used the competition between the leading Nigerian banks to support his claim that there are intense rivals in every business.
He asserted, however, that the rivalry between the Afrobeats artists is amusing and that he has never heard his friend Davido spread rumors about Wizkid and Burna Boy among his close friends. He also believes that the rumors are reciprocal.
“It would be difficult for Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy to come together. I will speak for Davido, I have never heard him for once said something ill about Wizkid or Burna Boy. And I’m sure it’s the same for them. But the environment [industry] they are will make it difficult for them to work together.
“It’s like the rivalry between the top banks in Nigeria. In every industry, there is the big 3,” he stated.
