Leo DaSilva, a former Big Brother Naija contestant, has responded to the ongoing controversy over Yoruba land sales and tribalism in Lagos.
His remarks followed social commentator Scott Iguma’s now-viral video in which he asserted that Yorubas have no moral right to protest other tribes’ “invasion” because they are the ones selling off their ancestral territories.
He charged that they were in a hurry to sell ancestral properties to Igbos and others, only to waste the money on fancy automobiles and private indulgences while the community benefited nothing.
The reality star, who wrote on X, concurred with Iguma and went on to criticize Yoruba elders, claiming that they have brought shame to the clan.
He wrote:
“Lol this narrative of Yoruba elders selling family land to our Igbo people, that’s where I will always blame us Yoruba people. Everyone is now using it to make fun of us. Your parents, who are greedy and fighting their siblings for property they didn’t work for, caused this,” he wrote.
The reality TV star emphasized that selfishness and a lack of forethought among families are the main causes of the issue, arguing that Yorubas are to fault for letting outsiders control land ownership in Lagos.
Igbos did not steal land in Lagos, as Iguma had previously stated.
They just purchased it, he said. According to him, Yorubas ought to focus their ire on their own elders rather than on strangers.
Additionally, he said that if Yorubas feel “invaded,” their leaders should build international airports and seaports in other states so that foreigners can conduct business there without depending on Lagos.
