“Toke Makinwa Addresses Misconceptions as She Reflects on Marriage Struggles”

Media star Toke Makinwa has opened up about her previous marriage, explaining how she overcame criticism from the public and false beliefs about her fortitude.

The actress and businesswoman talked about the challenges of navigating a closely watched relationship while juggling personal issues that many people did not get in a recent interview with media host Chude Jideonwo.

Makinwa claims that people frequently underestimate survivors, believing that just because they survived and went on with their lives, their difficulties were not serious.

She pointed out that instead of taking inspiration from people who recover better, society occasionally feels jealous of individuals who do so.

“People like to say it must not have been that bad because you didn’t die. But if someone comes back 10 mins stronger, it unsettles others. Instead of learning from it, they see your strength as a threat. Until you have walked in my shoes, don’t comment on it,” she said.

Toke went on to say that her decision to leave was eventually impacted by the public aspect of her marriage. She acknowledged that she might have thought about remaining longer if the connection had been private.

But because of the intense emotions she was experiencing and the intense scrutiny, the scenario was dangerous for her health.

“Maybe I could have stayed if it wasn’t so public. But the way I loved this person would have been dangerous for me. If I stayed, how I felt would have consumed my entire life,” she added.

Even though it was difficult to leave, the single mother emphasized that the only way to save her life and future was to choose herself over staying in a hazardous situation.
