
As many Nigerians continue to grieve the tragic death of Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of reality sensation and up-and-coming actress Phyna, the Federal Road Safety Corps has spoken out.
Ruth Otabor died after suffering critical injuries in an accident between a Dangote truck and a motorcycle in Auchi, Edo state, according to a statement issued by the FRSC on Sunday, August 31.
Days after graduating from Auchi Polytechnic, on August 13, 2025, Ruth was engaged in the deadly crash, according to Gist 9ja’s report.
She died on Sunday, August 31, after suffering terrible injuries in the accident that required the amputation of one of her limbs.

In response to Phyna’s sister’s passing, FRSC spokesperson Olusegun Ogungbemide expressed the Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed’s condolences to the Otabor family, Students’ Union, and Auchi Polytechnic community as a whole.
The Corps revealed that it made proactive measures to include important stakeholders in order to prevent a recurrence following the incident.
A meeting with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) leadership was one of the actions the FRSC took to address their concerns and provide them a detailed explanation of the Corps’ continuous road safety management operations.
Through organized training and recertification programs for their drivers, the Corps also revealed that it has strengthened its partnership with key fleet operators, including as Dangote, BUA, and other heavy truck businesses.
