An old video of Nigerian musician Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known online as D’banj, displaying his MTVBase trophy during a Thanksgiving celebration in Winners Chapel has reappeared.
The Oliver Twist crooner was spotted on the podium of the church’s headquarters in Ota, Canaanland, in the now-viral video.
Bishop Oyedepo gave D’banj a word of wisdom, and he thanked God for his victory in the 2007 MTVBase award. The assembly erupted in applause as he went on to dedicate the plaque to the well-known preacher.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to God for his appointment as Nigeria’s youth envoy to the UN.
Regarding the unapproved sample of his 2012 hit song Oliver Twist, the singer disclosed that his legal team had contacted American music icon Marc Anthony.
D’banj disclosed that Marc Anthony sampled Oliver Twist in the title track of his 2024 album, Muevense, without first getting consent or collecting the necessary rights in an interview with Adesope Live.
