Nigerian musician Terry G, whose real name is Gabriel Oche Amanyi, has accused American music magazine Billboard of “robbing” him by not included his tracks in its newly published list of the Top 50 “Best Afrobeats Songs of All-Time.”
“African Queen” by 2Face was the number one song on the list compiled by Billboard employees, according to Gist 9ja. Weird MC’s “Ijoya,” Timaya’s “Dem Mama,” and Olu Maintain’s “Yahooze” were also included.
Terry G’s popular songs, such as “Akpako Master,” “Free Madness,” and “Run Mad,” were noticeably absent from the list, though.
Terry G said he was “robbed” in response to a post by the music monitoring website Chart Data that listed “African Queen” as the top song on the list. “TERRY G robbed,” he wrote.
Fans’ responses to his post were divided; some said he should be on the list, while others said none of his songs could compete with “African Queen” for the top slot.
