The family of Tuma, the content producer who falsely accused Nigerian actress Regina Daniels of being libelous, has come forward to ask for her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, and the public’s forgiveness.
Tuma had asserted that her children were not her husband’s property and accused Regina Daniels of adultery. He was taken into custody after these charges, and he has been there for more than three months.
Tuma’s brother and mother recently spoke out against his prolonged arrest in an interview with TV personality Lucky Udu.
Tuma’s brother disclosed that even though he was released on bail three weeks ago, he has stayed in detention since the court rejected many sureties that his family had offered.
The requirement of tax clearance paperwork has been the main barrier, and despite multiple attempts, the court has continually denied them. With tears in her eyes, Tuma’s mother spoke of her son as her sole hope since her husband’s passing.
She emphasized that she is both her son’s mother and father while fervently pleading with the Nigerian people and Ned Nwoko to pardon her son. She bemoaned the social stigma and rejection they currently experience from their society and stated that she had sold everything she owned to help him.
Tuma’s brother provided additional insight into the underlying cause of his involvement by connecting it to the unresolved injustice their family experienced. It is stated that their late father, a former police officer, was wrongly fired and imprisoned without following the proper procedures.
He subsequently passed away from a disease he contracted while in custody. The brother clarified that Tuma’s social media engagement and outspokenness were fueled by this ongoing sorrow.
The family called for involvement in Tuma’s case, emphasizing that although they did not condone his conduct against Regina Daniels, he is a victim of societal injustice rather than a criminal.
