Martin Vincent Otse, a Nigerian social media activist, expressed his thoughts on the widely circulated Ibom Air incident involving Comfort Emmanson, a female passenger.
In a voice message that went viral, VDM accused the cabin crew of being unfriendly toward Comfort. Comfort vehemently denounced the accusation and demanded further proof.
It was previously believed that Ibom Air Passenger Comfort Emmanson, who was recently placed under remand at Kirikiri Correctional Center for allegedly assaulting airline employees, will be released this week, according to Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
The minister, in a tweet on Wednesday morning, August 13, disclosed the development after his meeting with the executives of Ibom Air and the regret that Emmanson purportedly displayed during his interaction with her.
The minister insisted that Ibom Air had consented to drop its accusations against Emmanson, who was taken into custody on August 10 upon arriving in Lagos from Akwa Ibom. Emmanson’s apparent refusal to turn off her cell phone in spite of repeated safety instructions reportedly worsened the issue, which started just before takeoff at Victor Attah International Airport.
Ibom Air claims that after another traveler next to her turned off the device, she had a verbal altercation with the cabin crew that escalated into a physical altercation when they landed in Lagos.
The man speaker said he was on the flight and accused Ibom Air of crafting a narrative to attract public empathy.
He stated that after Comfort complained that her phone was on flight mode rather than off, the air hostess insulted her and broke it.
In order to verify that he was on that specific flight, the online activist pushed the male voice to reveal his boarding information. He even offered the male voice N5 million if he would come forward and fearlessly explain what he allegedly saw.
VDM declared that until there is verifiable proof to back up the voice note, he will not follow the crowd in believing it.
