Popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1 or K1 de Ultimate, has been banned from flying for six months by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Agency (NCAA).
The aviation regulatory body’s action came after a fight broke out between Valuejet pilots and KWAM 1 ground crew at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
On Thursday, August 7, Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of consumer protection and public affairs, made the announcement. He also revealed that in order to start legal action against KWAM 1, the NCAA is now writing to the federation’s attorney general and the inspector general of police.
The director responded that both President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo are dedicated to upholding the rule of law when asked if the Fuji star would not face prosecution because of his close relationship with Tinubu.
The NCAA took action after suspending the pilot’s (Captain Oluranti Ogoyi) and co-pilot’s (First Officer Ivan Oloba) licenses. Vangaurd said the NCAA disclosed that the ValueJet pilots had started departure operations from the assigned bay without following the required pre-departure clearance procedures.
In addition to calling the pilot’s conduct “reckless,” the regulatory authority stated that they “endangered the safety of ground personnel and other airport users” and blatantly broke both international safety standards and established civil aviation laws.
