According to singer Magixx, streaming farms are to blame for the recent drop in the number of breakthrough performers in Nigeria’s music scene.
According to him, the majority of the slots on music charts and streaming services have been “bought,” making it challenging for up-and-coming musicians to get seen on the charts.
“Just so you all know, the reason we don’t have enough breakout artists these days is because almost every spot on Apple Music is bought!” he tweeted on his X handle.
Even while several well-known industry players dispute the existence of streaming farms, reports that some musicians have been utilizing bots or automated systems to inflate the number of plays their songs or albums receive on streaming platforms have dominated discussions in the music industry.
Don Jazzy, the CEO of Mavin Records and Magixx’s boss, refuted claims last year that he manipulates his artists’ streams by using streaming farms.
Additionally, he asserted that there are no streaming farms and emphasized that he doesn’t use them even if they do exist.
