Following his recent retaliation against a troll on X (previously Twitter), Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, best known by his stage name Davido, sparked a flurry of responses on the social media site.
A user’s accusation that Davido benefits more from privilege than talent sparked the contentious discussion.
He suggested that rather than Davido’s own work, his success is a result of his affluent upbringing.
The troll posted on Twitter:
“If no be silver spoon wey them born you with, two of us suppose dey same level by now.”
Davido, who is well-known for both his hit songs that reach the top of the charts and his online retorts to detractors, did not mince words.
OBO openly stated that he was not responsible for the troll’s misery because he did not advise his mother to have sex with the wrong person.
Davido has always received scrutiny due to his affluent background as the son of a billionaire. He has, however, consistently maintained that his success in the music business is the product of perseverance and hard work.
