Wizkid and Davido, two Afrobeats superstars, have quietly rekindled their long-running dispute on social networking platform X, which was formerly Twitter.
Wizkid said in a post on Tuesday, July 22, that he was the “biggest” and thus the greatest in the Nigerian music industry.
Davido mimicked Wizkid’s tweet and replied shortly after with a humorous post that said, “For your parlor.” He then reaffirmed his dominance in the industry by sharing a link that listed his professional achievements. In a different post, Davido made the mysterious remark, “I need a cane,” which has led to a range of interpretations from fans and followers.
According to earlier reports, Nigerian musician Ayodeji Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, revealed his thoughts on his colleague Davido and his competition with him.
This came after Wizkid criticized his alleged competitor David Adeleke, also known as Davido, in a slew of recent tweets for teasing his most recent single and renaming him “Frogido.” This followed the former DMW executive’s indication on his Twitter site that he will be sharing some exciting news with his fans.
When his tweet clashed with that of his industry rival Wizkid, who also intended to release new songs on October 1, 2024, it sparked criticism from doubters. The superstar crooner also gave an explanation on why he doesn’t consider Davido a rival.
