According to afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, his family was “dealt and damaged” by the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, Seun asserted that throughout his time as Head of State, the late leader inflicted more harm on his family than on any other family in Nigeria.
However, he claimed that Buhari’s passing does not atone for the alleged crimes he did against his family.
He lamented the passing of his father and uncles, whom he said Buhari had wrongfully prosecuted, many years before the former president.
Kuti claimed that the only comfort he could find was that, should such a thing exist, the three would band together to fight Buhari in the hereafter.
“Nobody Buhari has offended and damaged like my family,” the artist stated in a video broadcast posted on his Instagram page. Buhari dealt with my family, yet his passing does not bring my family any sort of justice or triumph.
“My only regret is that my dad Fela, and my uncles Koye and Beko died before him; all better men than him. The only solace I can take from his death is that the three of them will gang up against him in the afterlife if there’s such a thing.”
Buhari, a former military Head of State and democratically elected president, passed away in a London clinic on Sunday, with his remains buried in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday.
