A woman has come out to debate being a feminist and Christian at the same time with the thought that she can’t be a Christian as a feminist.
She revealed that it’s hard for her to rationalize being a Bible-believing Christian and being a woman, while adding that she would present some reasons to support her claim and opinion of not being a Christian as a woman.
She supported her claim with a Bible chapter, 1st Timothy 2:11-12. She said that God banned female leadership and preachings, saying, “Women should keep quiet in the church.” She added that that was sufficient for women to not associate themselves with Christian activities or be in Christian environments.
She went on to say that in Ephesians 5:22-24, the Bible asked women to submit under the authority of their husbands in marriage, which, to her, marriage is based on equality and mutual respect. She said in Genesis 3, God explicitly curses women as the result of the fall of man and establishes dominance of men over women, adding that when people wonder why the society is so misogynistic and the feminist movement has to work so hard to undo the toxic conceptions and beliefs held in the society, Genesis 3 is the reason why.
She further spilled that in Leviticus 12:1-5 it’s implied that childbirth makes a woman unclean, and twice as unclean if she gives birth to a girl. Also in Deuteronomy 22:28-29, the Bible condones rape and puts a price on raping a virgin.
Using 1st Corinthians 14:34-35 as a link, she further said that the Bible orders that women keep quiet in the church, while pointing to Numbers 31:17-18, she said God ordered that virgin Midianite women to be kept as war plunder.
She also mentioned Deuteronomy 25:11-12. The Bible stated that if a woman is in fight with another man, grabs the “Balls” of the other man, her hands should be cut off.
She said that it’s hard for her to believe that a God that’s omniscient and knows all things puts a stamp of approval on the mentioned instances in the Bible. She added that although it was a different time, it still didn’t matter, saying that God’s moral compass shouldn’t be suitable for a particular time.
She said God is supposed to be the source of Christian objective morality.
