Following a decision by the Lagos State coroner’s inquest that was overseeing the case, it appears that the drama surrounding the death of Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Imole Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has finally come to an end.
Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, who ruled over the case, acknowledged the abuse the musician endured at the hands of Sam Larry and Naira Marley during the Friday, July 11, 2025, court session in Ikorodu.
But the court decided that there was no direct connection between his death and the abuse. Magistrate Shotobi ruled that medical malpractice was the cause of Mohbad’s death and demanded that Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the nurse who cared for the 26-year-old musician, be prosecuted.
Ogedengbe, he pointed out, was not a licensed medical professional and had illegally given the singer a tetanus shot, which apparently caused problems that ultimately resulted in the singer’s death.
The decision to perform a quick and undignified funeral as soon as Mohbad’s father passed away was influenced by cultural reasons, which Magistrate Shotobi acknowledged in his finding.
However, he underlined that in the instance of the music star’s unexpected death, the correct legal and medical procedures—such as a death certificate and autopsy—should have been followed.
After hearing testimony from 19 witnesses, the magistrate came to the conclusion that Mohbad had experienced tumultuous times before his passing.
In order to determine if the police were negligent, he also demanded that the singer’s petition, which was filed before to his passing, be investigated.
This comes after Verydarkman, a social media activist, has been conducting private investigations on the death of Mohbad. interviewing Mohbad’s friends PrimeBoy, Spending and the driver.
