Days after Rashida Nicole, the influencer, revealed she was expecting the couple’s child, LiAngelo Ball filed for divorce.
The rapper and professional basketball player filed for divorce on July 3 at a courthouse in Southern California, according to court documents that TMZ Sports was able to get.
Although the actual date of the couple’s marriage is still unknown, rumors that they were married were sparked when they were spotted leaving the same courtroom in February while carrying a big envelope and dressed entirely in white.
There had been no public hint of a rupture between the two, so the news of Ball’s filing was unexpected. Just one week before to the divorce filing, on June 26, Nicole made her pregnancy public on social media. Ball seemed to endorse the announcement, posting a lock and key and a heart emoji in the comments.
Ball’s legal team has not yet responded to requests for comment.
The 25-year-old athlete has already made headlines for an abrupt breakup. Ball’s other children’s mother, Nikki Mudarris, accused him earlier this year of leaving their family soon after the birth of their second kid. Mudarris asserted in a public declaration, “We spent 3 1/2 years together, and last week he decided to walk out on his kids and tell me he got someone else pregnant (allegedly) and now is creating a new life with her.”
Ball made a public appearance the day before in a livestream with well-known content creator Kai Cenat, despite the divorce filing. He seemed to be in a good mood during the session and didn’t bring up the split.
