Bimbo Ademoye, an award-winning Nollywood actress, has criticized a close friend who deceived her out of jealousy, exploited her for publicity, and even attempted to ruin their romance.
According to reports, Ademoye is dating media personality VJ Adams. The “Sugar Rush” actress described how, in spite of all the encouragement she got from Bimbo, the once-trusted friend—who also wanted to be an actress—became resentful and competitive in a post posted on her verified Instagram page on Tuesday.
She wrote: “I once had a friend who wanted to be an actor as well. I’d shop for her whenever we had events—clothes, shoes, bags, everything. I wanted her to look the part. Mind you, I was already getting fame then and had even been AMVCA-nominated twice.”
However, a startling incident at a film premiere where the actress was the main star caused the friendship to deteriorate. She was shocked when the buddy showed up wearing the identical dress—just a different color—after getting ready and styled for the red carpet.
She revealed:
“Tell me why Aunty pulled out the exact same dress I was wearing in another color. I didn’t mind at first, but my sister flagged it as disrespectful.”
Soon, Bimbo started seeing a pattern. At every event, the friend aimed to outshine her, showing up in more extravagant looks—all funded by Bimbo herself.
The actress wrote, “For every event we attended, she’d always want to dress or look more expensive… ON MY TAB”.
When Bimbo became gravely ill and the buddy vanished entirely, it was the tipping point. But the actress was surprised by what happened next. She said the ex-friend made a phony Instagram account to harass her and even sent damaging falsehoods to her then-boyfriend.
“She started trolling me and sending messages to my boyfriend at the time, saying all sorts. The craziest part? She even tried to link up with him romantically. Tell me why this daughter of Jezebel did that.”
