Despite being born and reared in Virginia, well-known American country music artist Collins Obinna Chibueze, better known by his stage name Shaboozey, has stated that Nigeria would always remain a part of his heritage.
The singer said that the song “feels like a homecoming” for him as he enjoyed his previous collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats artist Burna Boy on the song “Change Your Mind.”
The hitmaker of “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” said working with a musician from his home nation was an honor.
On his X handle, an elated Shaboozey wrote, “This one feels like a homecoming. Virginia raised me, but Nigeria will always be in my blood — now I get to share that with the world alongside my brother @burnaboy. ‘Change Your Mind’ drops tonight. Grateful, honored, and hope y’all love this song as much as we do!”
Shaboozey was born in Woodbridge, Virginia, on May 9, 1995, to Nigerian immigrants.
His first track, “Jeff Gordon,” was released in 2014, marking the start of his musical career.
After appearing on two songs from Beyoncé’s 2024 album “Cowboy Carter,” he became well-known throughout the world.
His popular song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is tied with Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” as the single with the longest run at number one on the Hot 100.
