Although his twin brother and former bandmate Paul Okoye is also a musician, Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, one half of the now-defunct P-Square, has asserted that he is the only licensed musician in his family.
Speaking at a recent AY Live event, Mr. P asserted that the people who called him “talentless” were to blame for the breakup of P-Square, emphasizing that their promotion of his twin brother Paul, whom they said was more gifted than him, entered Paul’s (his) mind.
He clarified that he is not “talentless” and that he is the only member of his family with a music certificate.
Mr P said, “I have sang and danced but they told you I am talentless. I will prove myself today. The reason P-Square slipt was because two brothers were doing their thing and some fans started saying one was more talented than the other and it got into his head and he started misbehaving.
“They lied to you. In the whole of Okoye’s family, I’m the only one with music certificate. I read music. But they lied to you. I know the liars but let’s leave it. I have sang, danced and played the piano and the guitar, is it easy?”
