Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie advocates cashless policy, says he will help reduce kidnapping

Yul Edochie, a well-known Nigerian actor, has openly urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to bring back the cashless policy that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) instituted years ago.

The actor emphasized the policy’s advantages in an Instagram post, pointing to its beneficial effects on the country’s economy and security.

Edochie claims that the Nigerian currency’s value increased dramatically as a result of the cashless regime. He emphasized that by restricting access to actual currency, the cashless system decreased the number of kidnappings.

He wrote, “To my leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I humbly suggest you bring back the cashless policy. When it was introduced by the previous administration, it increased the value of the naira tremendously. It helped to bring down prices of goods and it made 5 naira, 10, 20 and 50 naira notes regain value. The cashless policy also helped to reduce kidnapping massively. Consider it again Sir. Thank you, Your Excellency.”

Due to the continuous economic strain, many Nigerians are considering the advantages and difficulties of reintroducing the cashless policy in response to the actor’s call, which has generated conversations online.
