After a video of reality TV star and actress Erica Nlewedim straining to speak her native Igbo language went viral, she was once again at the focus of social media criticism.
Many fans were astonished and dismayed by the video, which went viral on Monday, showing the former BBNaija contestant clearly stumbling through a rapid Igbo chat. Critics quickly criticized Erica, saying she was out of touch with her heritage and had embarrassed the Igbo culture in public.
Erica, however, did not take the criticism well.
The “Star Girl” retaliated against her critics in a scathing post on X (previously Twitter), accusing the Igbo people of not being together and supportive of one another.
She wrote: “Look at my Igbo people in the comments showing how much they hate their own. Continue but please don’t complain when others don’t show you love! Cos you can’t be so openly divided against your own people and expect trust from outsiders!”
