VDM Swears to Reopen Mohbad’s Death Case, Hints at New Evidence

VeryDarkMan (VDM), a Nigerian activist and controversial online personality, has sparked new online reactions after declaring his intention to revive public discourse on the untimely death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known online as Mohbad.

On September 12, 2023, Mohbad passed away under strange circumstances, igniting protests and national indignation. Many Nigerians demanded an investigation into what they perceived to be a dubious and preventable death.

On Saturday, June 28, 2025, VDM declared on Instagram that he was reopening the singer’s case because “justice has not been served.”

VDM wrote, I’m bringing back Mohbad’s case deliberately because justice has not been served,”

Thousands more Nigerians reposted and commented on the delicate matter, which has remained largely unaddressed for almost two years, after the post went viral immediately. VDM made a mysterious comment that appeared to be a prelude to further disclosures.

“Zlatan is still alive… wait for the next evidence.”

Although he did not elaborate, the reference to rapper Zlatan Ibile sparked curiosity about the artist’s potential involvement, if any, in the next round of the Mohbad inquiry.
