In a recently leaked interview, Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck revealed a shocking fact about Mavin star Rema.
Odumodublvck stated in the widely shared video that Rema gave him N40 million to film the music video for his song “Pity This Boy” in defiance of industry advice that he shouldn’t release his song on the same day as the “Calm Down” hitmaker.
The rapper, who is well-known for his gritty lyrics and unabashed attitude, claimed that despite numerous industry insiders telling him that competing with Rema’s drop would be a bad idea, he went with his gut and it turned out to be a wise decision.
“When people do stuff for you, you have to appreciate it. Because you don’t know where the favour is coming from. Look at now; they said don’t drop your song with Rema on the same day. I said why not? The same guy [Rema] sent me N40 million to shoot the Pity This Boy video. Imagine if I had listened to them and didn’t drop it—maybe the Holy Spirit would have told him, don’t send this guy the money, and he wouldn’t have.”
Fans are in disbelief over the incendiary announcement, not just because of the enormous amount at stake but also because of the unexpected relationship between two musicians that many thought were rivals rather than partners.
