Singer Olamide has been accused by actor Yemi Ayebo, better known by his stage name “Yemi My Lover,” of not returning his calls after appropriating his name in his songs.
This was said by the Nollywood star in a social media video interview.
When questioned about whether he is paid by singers and content producers for utilizing his name “Yemi My Lover” in their songs and content, he said that he has never been paid by any of them.
He claimed that despite contacting Olamide via Fuji legend Pasuma, he did not return his calls for six months.
Yemi went on to say that his popularity increased when his name was used in songs and other content.
“I was overjoyed when Olamide used my name for the first time in his song. God has blessed my name, which is why Olamide, Davido, and others—including skit creators—use it.
“Pasuma said Yemo did Olamide settle you for singing with your name? And I told him no, I have never even seen him before not to talk of him settling me. We don’t have each other’s contact. And immediately Pasuma picked up his phone and called him that I came to report him.
“Olamide told Pasuma to give me the phone so he could speak with me. That was the first time we spoke and he told me to collect his number from Pasuma and call him. Pasuma gave me his number and I called Olamide for more than six months, he didn’t pick my calls, I messaged him and he didn’t reply,” he said.
