David Nyong Okon, a self-styled prophet, has been taken into custody by the Cross River State Police Command after it was claimed that he punched a teenage girl, blinding her.
The Land of Settlement Fellowship, also called “Isong Utip Abasi Afia Ubok,” which means “the land of reward from God’s clean hands” in Efik, and The God of A Stainless Hand International were founded by Okon. He is being held by the police at the moment.
After a medical treatment failed to heal the harm allegedly caused by Okon on Saturday, May 31, 2025, the victim, Godsgift Edem Edet, who is reportedly 19 years old, is recuperating at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), according to Cross River Watch.
“She was standing at the exit of The Home restaurant at Obame Ikoya Street next to Calabar Municipal Council Secretariat when the prophet drove recklessly, prompting her and her friend to query why. She asked her friend who approached them what happened in a language that infuriated him (Nyong) and he proceeded to punch her. He wanted to leave but was held back by youths who insisted he should take her for treatment,” a source close to the family told the publication.
The source added, ‘’He eventually took her, after much delay, to a pharmacy along Marian (Ndidem Usang-Iso) road, and when they couldn’t handle it, he reluctantly took her to UCTH where he was rude to those on duty and abandoned her for two weeks until he was arrested last weekend.”
