Following the killings that claimed many lives, social media celebrity Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, posted a video from his trip to Yelwata, Benue state, which has continued to garner attention.
Following the sad incident, social media critic Oriretan Honour decided to criticize the online personality, despite the fact that VeryDarkMan’s video prompted well-known celebrities to speak out and urge the government to step in.
Oriretan claimed that VeryDarkMan was attempting to gain influence by carrying out the murders in Benue. In addition to recalling VeryDarkMan’s involvement following the passing of late singer Mohbad, the critic asserted that celebrities were exploiting the ‘Benue killings’ trend in order to remain current.
“It is unwise how VDM is chasing clout with Benue’s killings, shedding fake tears, pains. More unwise how he has turned death of over 200 ppl into content, acting to trend, gather fans, like he did with Mohbad. Sad, celebs are now jumping in to stay releveant. Praying for bad things to happen to get content. After posting many will move on within 24 hours. No action, nothing,” he wrote.
Some Netizens slammed the man for shading VDM. They had these say:
Magdaline Dung said: “You’re the one chasing clout with this post.”
Abiodun Ushokhai commented: “Everybody dey clap for monkey but dem forget sey, na trees wey near each other dey make am dey perform skills. Na because sey dis otondo get phone and data dey make am reckless.”
Amb Nwiluka Clara said: “You be goat, if VDM didn’t visit there you and I wouldn’t have known what really happened.”
