Alibaba, an ace comedian, has voiced worries about some Nigerian comedians’ lack of professionalism.
According to the “King of comedy,” several Nigerian comedians—including three well-known but unnamed—lack manners and offend people’s sensibilities.
Alibaba mentioned in a recent episode of the Outside The Box podcast how he sent a comedian to host a collaborative event and received a complaint that the comic had made a humiliating joke about the company’s chairman’s plus-size wife.
He clarified that he said Ali Baba was envious of his advancement when he attempted to correct the aforementioned comic.
“I can’t stand about three Nigerian comedians,” he stated. They lack manners. They offend people’s sensibilities. They refuse to listen to you when you try to correct them. They make crude jokes when you send them to a cooperative gathering.
Additionally, they would minimize it when you confronted them after receiving a report of their disruptive behavior.
“Somebody called me one time to complain about one of them that he made a joke about his plus-size wife. He said, ‘If a race happens now and everyone has to carry their wives and run, you can’t carry this woman and run.’ I was like, that’s below the belt. When I confronted him, he downplayed it. He even told somebody that I was only confronting him because he was shining.”
According to Alibaba, comedians ought to be aware of their boundaries.
He clarified that in order to protect the careers of those rowdy comedians, he would not reveal their names. But he suggested that they concentrate on telling clever jokes.
