According to reports, Nigerian billionaire and entrepreneur Simon Guobadia would likely lose a sizable portion of his fortune as a result of a contentious divorce dispute with Porsha Williams, an American reality TV star.
In November 2022, Guobadia, 61, and Williams, 43, exchanged vows. But only 15 months later, in February 2024, Williams filed for divorce, claiming that their marriage had irreparably broken down and citing irreconcilable differences.
Now that the terms of that arrangement are being upheld in court, Guobadia is being obliged to divide the equity of his $7 million Atlanta property from before he married Williams.
In addition, he is supposed to pay off large debts and cover other costs for his divorced wife.
Famous for her work on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha Williams supposedly quit the show before getting married due to Guobadia’s influence.
In the court documents, Guobadia cites Williams’ “misrepresentations” regarding his departure from the reality show as a primary factor in his initial consent to the prenuptial agreement. Regardless of such allegations, the court appears ready to uphold the arrangement.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Guobadia, which further exacerbated the situation and caused the court proceedings to be repeatedly postponed.
Even though he has now left the United States, the wheels of justice have continued to move despite his absence.
