A video featuring David Ibiyeomie, the founder of Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt, has prompted a response from social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman.
Ibiyeomie performs a miracle in church in the video that VDM posted, claiming that God has granted him the power to speak.
A member of the church was summoned by the clergy, who told him to go to sleep and not wake up. The man didn’t wake up until Ibiyeomie gave him the order to do so, despite efforts to wake him.
In response to the video, VDM expressed severe doubts about Ibiyeomie’s sincerity as a genuine servant of God.
He asserted that Ibiyeomie was a lawless man in accordance with 2 Thessalonians 2:9–10, a biblical verse.
VDM responded by criticizing the motivation behind the miracle and arguing that such powers ought to be applied for more important goals, such as destroying terrorists in areas controlled by Boko Haram in order to assist Nigeria in defeating insurgency.
The social media celebrity, who is well-known for bashing celebrities, promised to keep attacking the clergy, saying he will go back and make more criticisms.
VDM added that although Pastor Ibiyeomie had cautioned bloggers from writing about him, he had pledged not to use derogatory language in his videos.
VDM’s reaction to a clergy member’s remarks is not the first time a celebrity has done so. Pastor Adeboye was chastised by Portable a few months ago for his remarks regarding the new year.
