Simi, a Nigerian musician, has kindly requested that her fans refrain from calling her kid Duduke.
Simi clarified in a recent interview with media personality VJ Adams that Duduke isn’t her daughter’s name and has no significance.
Some people call my daughter Duduke, which I don’t like. That’s not her name. It doesn’t mean anything,” she said. “Assuming it even means something good like blessing… but Duduke doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a beat — that’s what I meant. My heartbeat like a drum.”
She went on to say that even though she understands its good intentions, it still makes her uncomfortable as a parent.
“I try not to react too much to that, but stop calling my child Duduke.”
In 2020, Simi and her spouse, Adekunle Gold, had a daughter.
