2025 AMAS: Tyla Fights off competition From Wizkid, Tems, and Rema to win Favorite Afrobeats Artist.

At the 2025 American Music Awards, which took place Monday night at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas in Las Vegas, South African singer Tyla won the coveted Favourite Afrobeats Artist title, further solidifying her supremacy over other African performers on international award platforms.

The Nigerian powerhouses Wizkid, Rema, Tems, and Asake competed with the “Water” hitmaker.

Wizkid’s success with the song “Essence” helped him win the AMAS’s first Favorite Afrobeats Artist award in 2022.

But the night’s biggest winner is Billie Eilish, who took home all seven of her nominations, including Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Artist of the Year.

Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, who were eliminated from all nominations, are the biggest snubs.

In addition to winning the honors for Favorite Hip-hop Album and Favorite Male Hip-hop Artist, Eminem won his first American Music honors in fifteen years.
