In a video posted to her Instagram, actress Damilola Adegbite shares a heartfelt message with her fans, urging emotional maturity and self-mastery.
The Nollywood star, who recently turned 40, said she felt compelled to share one of the most important lessons she’s learned with age: a truth that, in her opinion, can liberate people from heartbreak, disappointment, and unfulfilled expectations.
In the video that was shot after an event, Damilola disclosed that she realized the message’s impact during a phone call with a friend and made the decision to speak directly to anyone who would need to hear it.
She claims that realizing that no one owes you anything is one of life’s most freeing lessons.
“Sometimes the people you showed up for will not show up for you. Sometimes your hard efforts will go unnoticed. That apology you are waiting for may never come,” she said.
She emphasized that although many people believe that wonderful things would come to them just because they behave morally, that isn’t necessarily the case in real life.
According to Damilola, people frequently show love and care because they choose to do so rather than because they are required to.
The actress urged her fans to quit becoming angry when they don’t receive the treatment they anticipate from others. Rather, she said, they should watch, adapt, and continue.
