Belinda Effah, a former Nollywood actress who is now Grace Charis-Bassey, has explained why she left Nigeria to the United States, where she joined the Navy as an officer.
Earlier reports had previously stated that after becoming a Navy officer, the former actress delivered the good news of obtaining US citizenship.
Grace disclosed that she struggled to find purpose in her acting career and went through an identity crisis in an interview with the Saturday Beats of Punch newspaper.
The US Navy officer went on to say that she had already turned into a passive actor before joining the US Navy and that it seemed like she was no longer contributing to the film business.

Bassey wrote in the essay that she felt empty as a character and had to rediscover herself, adding that the hiatus she took caused her to avoid the film industry for more than a year.
